The dark purple fruit of the European elder tree is known as elderberry. Medicine is made from the berries. It should not be confused with American Elder, Elderflower, or Dwarf Elder. Elderberry is used to treat ordinary colds, influenza (the flu), and the H1N1 “swine” virus. It’s also utilized for HIV/AIDS and immune system support. Elderberry is also used to treat nasal pain, sciatica (back and leg pain), neuralgia (nerve pain), and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)..
