A vitamin that the body needs in little amounts to remain healthy and function properly. It is fat-soluble (can dissolve in fats and oil). Alpha Tocopherol is a vitamin E derivative. Its E number is “E307”. There are eight distinct types of vitamin E: four tocopherol and four tocotrienols.
Alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherol are the four tocopherols found in natural vitamin E. It is the type utilized in the human body, and it is required to correct vitamin E insufficiency. Only this form is taken to the spot where it is integrated into lipoproteins and transported to other areas of the body by the liver transport protein alpha-tocopherol transport protein.
